I Lost 25 Pounds on The Fast Food Diet

Dear Dr. Sinatra,

I went to the doctor today (December 4th), blood pressure 120/78, weight at 214.  My weight on 9/22 was 230 lbs, blood pressure 148/104.  I wanted to let you know that I am 61 years old and a two-time cancer survivor.  This is what makes The Fast Food Diet so compatible to my lifestyle.

The book was easy to “digest” using the common sense approach to eating an exercising that was laid out in the book.  It was a “no” brainer to have success with the diet.   My lifestyle has not changed by using the principles and guidelines of The Fast Food Diet.  My goals are easily in reach without killing myself.

My wife has joined me on and is encouraged by her success.  I will keep you updated on my progress.  Again, I want to thank you for showing how a common sense diet and exercise program can be implemented and adhered to without boredom, great expense and complexity.  You will hear from me again at a “lighter” time.

(EDITOR’S NOTE:  We did indeed hear from Tom again, several weeks later…)

Dear Dr. S,

As of this writing I weigh 205.  Things slowed a tad over the holidays.  I am back to my regular routine and progress will be more noticeable. The picture (shown here on the left) was taken in May 2006.  The other picture shows a definite improvement.  The shorts I have on in the group picture have a 40” waist.  In the picture of me (shown on the right),I have on shorts that are 38” waist and I am very close to wearing 36” waist.  My wife and I walk regularly and we do have occasion to dine out.  We use the principles of “the fast food diet”.  We share entrees when eating out.  Portions are kept at a reasonable amount and we still lose weight without starving.  The book has made us more aware of the healthier choices of food to eat which also helps me maintain my blood pressure and help maintain the energy level for work and recreation.  Today my energy and lung capacity has increased enormously.

When I started the diet my goal was 200 lbs., now I am looking to get to 190 lbs.  By using short and long term goals I find my journey to a healthy well being reachable.  Thank you again for the common sense approach to dieting.
