Should you be concerned about Bird Flu in fast food chicken? |
Worries about bird flu have not lessened the demand for chicken and other poultry product in the U.S.
The average American is expected to eat 87.7 pounds of chicken this
year. That’s two pounds more than last year, according to the U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Will the widespread slaughter of chickens in Asia and Europe increase
the price you pay for chicken? Is it time to stock up the freezer?
No, says the USDA. Chicken prices will stay low because of sagging
exports and rising domestic production. Prices for beef and pork
should also remain steady.
